Five Things to Check Before a Sariya Delivery Gets Unloaded
The person who signs the delivery receipt is the last line of quality control on any site. After that signature, whatever arrived is the project's reality.
Most disputes about sariya quality come after signing. Rarely do they get resolved at that point. The bars are in, the truck is gone, and proving a discrepancy is nearly impossible once bars from multiple bundles have been mixed on the ground.
These five checks take under fifteen minutes. Every one of them happens before the truck leaves.
Check One - Find the Grade Stamp on the Bar
Every ISI-marked TMT bar carries identification stamped along the rib: the manufacturer's mark, the grade (Fe-500D, Fe-550D, or whichever was ordered), and the BIS certification mark. Pull one bar from the bundle and run your hand along the rib until you find it. It repeats at intervals.
On Moira Sariya bars, the grade mark and BIS mark appear at regular intervals along the cross-ribbed surface as part of the standard production process. If the stamp is missing, unclear, or shows a different grade from what was ordered, do not sign. Moira Sariya dispatches a 100% pass test report per batch. A bar that cannot be identified was not part of that standard.
Check Two - Match the Challan to the Order
Compare the delivery challan against the purchase order on three points: grade, diameter, and quantity. These three should match exactly.
Discrepancies found before unloading are a conversation. Discrepancies found after unloading are a dispute with an outcome that is hard to control.
Check Three - Count the Bars in Two or Three Bundles
A short bundle, nine bars where ten were specified, is a straightforward quantity discrepancy. Counting takes two minutes per bundle. Catching a short bundle at delivery is clean to document and easy to resolve before the truck leaves. Finding it afterwards is not.
Check Four - Weigh a Bar
Moira Sariya bars are standardised at 12-metre lengths. Pull one bar, put it on a scale.
8mm sariya should be close to 4.74 kg per bar.
10mm sariya should be close to 7.40 kg per bar.
12mm sariya should be close to 10.66 kg per bar.
16mm sariya should be close to 18.96 kg per bar.
If the bar weighs more than 2% below its expected weight, the steel mass is less than specified. That missing mass is missing strength, and it goes permanently into the structure once the concrete is poured.
Check Five - Look at the Bar Surface
A quick visual check of two or three bars. Light surface rust from transit is normal and does not affect performance once the bar is embedded in concrete.
Not acceptable: deep pitting that removes surface material from the bar, or cracks and seams visible along the bar body. These are manufacturing or handling defects and are grounds to reject the delivery.
When Something Is Not Right
Photograph the bar, the scale reading, and the challan before anything is unloaded. Call the dealer.
Moira Sariya has 700-plus dealers across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Goa, including 300-plus exclusive dealers. An authorised dealer stands behind the product. That conversation resolves faster before the truck leaves than after it does.
